Vendably connects to Meta Ads using OAuth via the Meta Graph API. You authorise Vendably from your Meta (Facebook) account, Vendably discovers the ad accounts available to that user, and you select the account to use. The connection covers both Facebook and Instagram ad placements managed through Meta Ads. Connections are stored against your Vendably user account.
For an overview of the Paid Media capability, see What is Paid Media in Vendably?.
What you need before connecting
- A Meta Business account with at least one ad account.
- Admin access on the ad account you want to connect. Your Meta user must be an admin of the ad account, not just a page role. This is the permission level Meta requires to grant third-party access via the API.
Connect your Meta Ads account
- Go to Ads in the main navigation.
- Open the account connection flow within Ads.
- Choose Meta Ads as the platform.
- Vendably redirects you to Meta's OAuth consent screen. Log in with the Facebook account that has admin access to your ad account and approve the requested permissions. Meta may ask you to confirm which ad accounts and pages to grant access to: approve the ad account you want to use in Vendably.
- Once you approve, Vendably uses the Meta Graph API to discover the ad accounts available to that user.
- Select the ad account you want to use in Vendably.
The connection is now active.
Import your campaigns
After connecting, use the campaign discovery step to select campaigns to import:
- Go to Ads, then Campaigns.
- Open the discovery step at
/ads/campaigns/discover/. Vendably lists the campaigns found in your connected Meta ad account. - Select the campaigns you want to import and confirm.
Vendably imports each selected campaign along with its ad creative, audience targeting settings, and performance data. Vendably then syncs performance reporting on a regular schedule.
What Vendably syncs from Meta Ads
After importing, Vendably keeps the following in sync from your Meta ad account:
- Campaign structure and status.
- Ad creative (copy, images, and format settings).
- Audience targeting settings.
- Performance reporting at campaign level.
Troubleshooting
OAuth token revoked or permissions removed: Meta tokens can be revoked if you remove Vendably from your Meta Business settings, change your Facebook password, or if Meta's security systems flag the session. If Vendably shows a connection error for Meta Ads, re-open the connection flow, choose Meta Ads, and complete the OAuth consent again. You can check which apps have access to your Meta Business account under Business Settings > Integrations > Connected apps in Meta Business Suite.
No ad accounts shown after authorising: Vendably retrieves ad accounts via the Meta Graph API using the permissions you granted during OAuth. If no accounts appear, check that the Facebook account used during the consent step is an admin of the intended ad account. Page-level roles do not grant access to the ad account. If you have multiple Meta Business portfolios, confirm which one holds the ad account and that the correct Facebook user has admin access to it.
Business verification or permission scope errors: Meta requires business verification for some API permission levels. If Vendably is unable to retrieve data after connecting, check your Meta Business verification status under Business Settings > Business Information in Meta Business Suite. If Meta rejected the requested permissions during the OAuth consent step, disconnect and reconnect, ensuring you approve all requested permissions when prompted.
Campaigns missing after import: if campaigns you expected to see are absent from the discovery step, confirm that they are active and not archived in Meta Ads Manager. The discovery step shows campaigns accessible via the Graph API at the time of discovery. Re-run the discovery step if campaigns were added after the initial connection.
